Money Back Insurance

A Money Back Policy is a type of life insurance plan that provides both insurance protection and periodic cash returns during the policy term. Unlike traditional life insurance where benefits are paid only at maturity or death, a money back policy gives you guaranteed payouts at fixed intervals, usually every few years.

Documents Required

A money-back insurance plan is a life insurance policy that provides a risk cover along with regular, periodic payouts (called survival benefits) of a set percentage of the sum assured during the policy term. If the policyholder survives the term, they receive the remaining balance plus bonuses.

Key Features

  • Periodic Payouts: Receive cash at fixed intervals (such as every 5 years) to help fund planned milestones.
  • Death Benefit: If the insured dies during the term, the nominee gets the full sum assured and accrued bonuses without any deduction for the survival payouts already made.
  • Maturity Benefit: The final balance of the sum assured plus accumulated bonuses is paid out when the policy ends safely.
  • Tax Benefits: Premiums paid and payouts received may qualify for tax savings under local tax laws.

How It Compares

Unlike a pure term insurance plan, a money-back policy gives returns if you survive.

Unlike a fixed deposit, it includes an active life insurance cover, though overall financial returns are typically more modest.
